1. Decreased use of pain medication
Individuals who have a Doula supporting them are 9% less likely to have any pain medications during their birth. Through the use of supportive techniques Doula's help their clients deal with discomforts more effectively. I highly recommend the use of Hypnobabies during birth. I'm also well versed in the use of aromatherapy and position changes to aid in your comfort.
2. Shorter labor duration
On average the birthing time of people with Doula's was 40 minutes less than those who didn't have a Doula. I encourage my clients to stay home for as long as possible. I find this allows them to birth more comfortably. I also encourage purposeful positioning, the use of peanut balls, and exercise balls to help progression.
3. Less likely to have a cesarean
There is a 39% decrease in the chance of having a cesarean when you have a Doula!
4. Increased breastfeeding rate
The likelihood of successfully breastfeeding increases when you work with a Doula prenatally as well as postpartum. I have breastfeeding education and access to a network of CLC's and IBCLC's!
5. Fewer negative birth experiences
34% fewer individuals had negative birth experiences when working with a Doula. In addition to supporting physical and emotional needs Doula's help advocate for their clients. My experience working in the hospital allows me to help avoid unnecessary interventions during birth.
